Expeditions at DofE Silver Walking Level are a step up from Bronze. As well as the extra day and night (3 days and 2 nights), they demand greater navigation skills and are delivered in more challenging terrain.

Our offer is flexible, so speak to us if you have your own group equipment or you plan to do the training in school yourself and want a shorter expedition whilst meeting the training requirements. Also let us know if participants need personal equipment. Participants can sign up for Silver without having done their Bronze Award.

The training includes:
- Review of navigation done at Bronze (if they are not direct entrants)
- First aid
- Menu planning
- Route planning
- Review of kit and rucksack packing
Practice expedition includes:
- Kit and rucksack check
- Campcraft (putting up and striking tents)
- Safe cooking on gas Trangia stoves
- Emergency procedures
- Extended navigation training
- Remote supervision
- Debrief in preparation for the qualifying expedition
Qualifying expedition:
Participants demonstrate the skills they have learned over a three-day assessment remotely supervised by a qualified assessor. The assessor writes up a report for each participant which is then uploaded to their eDofE account by Off Grid Adventures.
