Off Grid Adventures is offering exciting and creative residentials. We are combining writing and performing to create an innovative week where you can learn both skills or focus on one depending on your interest. You don’t have to have any previous experience either – we welcome everyone who wants to have a go! You will enhance your creative skills, increase your confidence in a supportive environment and make new friends.

THE COURSES

Below is an overview of the residential we are offering. Please note that some course content is subject to change. All accommodation is in shared rooms set in beautiful surroundings close to transport links. All courses are £430 (including VAT) and include the workshops, food and accommodation for the week. We offer monthly payment plans so please contact us if you would like to take up this offer. Transport to and from the venue is not included in the price.

Creative Writing and Drama/Performance

You will be collaborating to explore stories and create characters in written form or as a performance – your choice. You can focus on writing or acting or both. These courses give you the chance to work with professionals in the industry and explore your own creativity in a supportive and friendly environment.

The course will include:

  • Creative writing exercises
  • Drama exercises
  • Character building
  • Writing and performing dialogue
  • Improvisation through writing and performing
  • Feedback from a professional in the industry

COURSE LEADERS

Beth Granville is a writer and performer from South Wales, based in London. She has 15 years experience both as an educator and in the creative industry. Some of her writing and performing credits include: Gavin and Stacey (BBC), Stella (SKY), Foiled (BBC Radio), Foiled (My Comedy Play for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Critics Pick of the Fringe, 5* The Stage), Welcome Strangers (BBC Radio), Alyssa Edwards, Memoirs of a Queen (West End), The Skewer (BBC Radio), Pillar of Salt (BBC Radio). Beth is currently working as a script consultant with Divina De Campo (Drag Race) and Tom Ward (QI, Live at the Apollo). As an educator, Beth has worked with students at Italia Conti, ArtsEd, Iampro, University of South Wales and worked as a Drama Facilitator across many schools and colleges. https://mmbcreative.com/clients/beth-granville/ www.bethgranville.com

Fidelma O’Neill is director of Off Grid Adventures based in Bristol. Fidelma performs with Bristol Old Vic’s community theatre and UK Show Choir where she performed in a sell out week at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2024. She worked as a theatre practitioner, performer and arts educator in London for 17 years running projects with young people in schools and youth clubs and touring across the country. She managed arts education programmes for the National Gallery, the Roundhouse, English National Opera, Greater London Authority and Creative Partnerships. In 2011 she became an English and Media teacher in secondary schools and in 2018 launched Off Grid Adventures.
